Police in the Ashanti region have arrested six persons who are suspected to be part of a robbery syndicate attacking residents on the Ejura Mampong highway.
The suspects were said to have attacked some passengers in which they bolted with some undisclosed amount of money and mobile phones.
The deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, ACP Ampofo Duku said that the suspects wielding two single barrel guns blocked the Mampong Agona highway and attacked drivers and commuters on that highway.

“At about 5:45pm, suspects Ibrahim Mamudu, Kofi Amuzu, Isaka Abubakar and Ali wielding two single barrel guns and a locally manufactured pistol blocked the Mampong Agona Highway and attacked drivers and commuters commuting on the highway, they fired several gunshots robbing them of unspecified amount of money and mobile phones,” he told Accra-based Starr FM.
He said: “The suspects on the day of the arrest boarded a Kumasi-bound mini-bus from Mampong and on reaching the Police barrier policemen upon suspicion stopped the vehicle and suspects sensing danger tried escaping, but luck eluded them and they were apprehended by the Police.”
